Westlife China Greatest Hits Farewell Tour

My love, Season In The Sun, You Raise Me Up, The Rose…Westlife brought us so many hits that became the memory of a whole generation. So sad to hear the news of their disbandment, but at least we can see their performance for the last time at the Mastercard Arena Feb 22nd 2012

Who would have thought that they would be making China their very first stop of their Farewell Tour and their first show will be in Beijing. I have heard from our contacts within that they didn’t want to come back but the money was sooooo good they couldn’t say no. Apparently the band is done working they want to hang up their microphones and go and do reality shows and the other things that washed up celebrities do. However their management told them it’s not a option you must at least do one farewell tour and then you can disband.

If your a expat in Beijing and every like them now is your chance cause they won’t be back in any city in the world like Michael Jackson “This is it”. Let’s just hope that they don’t die or any thing tragic happens before they can make it out here again. The Greatest Hits Tour is the twelfth concert tour by Irish boy band, Westlife. The tour, visiting the United Kingdom and Ireland, will support the group’s compilation album, Greatest Hits. When the tour is complete, the group will disband after performing for 14 years.

Check Sendmetickets.com for tickets they should have them if not we will write a email to them and ask them to put it on.

DJ Calvin Harris Beijing Show @ One Club

For a long time we have been waiting for this kind of DJ to come on down to Beijing Saturday Feb 18 2012 its happening. Behind the scenes talk says it was suppose to be another promoter bringing Calvin Harris to Beijing but the ever so sneaky Spark from cool DJ agency swooped in and bought his dates. Nevertheless we don’t care who brings him once he comes. Calvin Harris is recently famous for “We found Love” with Rihanna, also chart-toppers like “I’m Not Alone”, the UK top five hit “Ready for the Weekend”, and the singles “Flashback” and “You Used to Hold Me”. He also has more recent club bangers like the singles “Awooga”, “Bounce” and “Feel So Close”. To put it plainly this is going to be a great night for Beijing. BUT wait there is only one problem what the Hell is ONE CLUB and where is it ? From our girl on the inside we have learned that Spark of Cool DJ agency hates Tango so he is venturing out to find a new viable location. However this could make or break this event. We looked this place up and found that it is more of a venue for rock music and everyone complains of the difficulty of finding it. We will try and find the easiest way to get there and report back to you. For now just get your tickets when you can for us expats there is only one source Sendmetickets.com whom I have gotten good reports about from our readers. Keep the comments and emails coming we really love and appreciate them and to Sarah From UK we will be writing more often we promise.

Avicii DJs at Spark Beijing

It only takes a spark to get a fire going. Last night spark was set ablaze by young up and coming electronic DJ by the name of Avicii. We were happy to get the phone call from the owners of spark to come over and witness this event. On arrival We knew this was going to be a great. Why? Because there were beautiful girls willing to stand in line in the freezing cold to get inside spark on a ladies night, go figure. While the owner zipped us pass the line we grabbed a few girls off the line and made their night, and boy didn’t that pay off later. I think it’s fair to say now that Spark is here to stay especially if they can beat the winter months and Chinese new year it’s all up hill from there. For sometime now the Beijing market has had that gap right between the failed Bling, the old suzies and the not so new xiu. There were many nights we just never went out because there was no where to go. However now Spark is a very good option for us grown folks. It’s shanghai pricey but we can stomach it because we understand what spark is doing to reate a certain culture, atmosphere and environment.

The club was filled with Europeans, models, hot Chinese girls ABCs and like 2 cool looking black guys a good balance. The science of running a club is very important and spark had it spot on last night the music started at the exact volume to talk, hear yourself think and build anticipation for Avicii. Although the club was pack the bottle service was fast Grey goose at 1380 (lol) If i had to pay i would lick the inside of the bottle. The only problem is the fuwuyuan could use a lesson in diplomacy they lack that layer of fabulous that the club innately has.

When Avicii came on he started banging right away his first track was fade into darkness it was sort of a Yes Beijing this is Avicii live kind of hello. However to our dismay he didn’t drop some of his biggest hits throughout the set and although the untrained eye might not have been able to tell most of Avicii’s set was premixed. Now isn’t that a cardinal sin somewhere in the DJ bible ? Nevertheless it was one of the best nights I have had in Beijing in a longtime. It seem as if my sabbatical to south America gave birth to some new growth and a amazing injection of rejuvenation in the slack, tired Beijing nightlife scene.

Word on the street is that there is yet another new hot spot call VPLUS we will be hitting there opening this weekend stay tune for updates.

Simple Plan Beijing Concert

Last time we wrote about Simple Plan we declared that they wouldn’t be back to Beijing so that was a show everyone should go and see. However they never held their show but in good faith members of the band showed up to Beijing to apologize to their fans. Now it looks like they will all return to the capital to give what should be a great live show. They will play a intimate show at yugongyishan the home of rock and roll here in Beijing. With such a small capacity venue I would expect the tickets to sell outvery soon. This will be the first big rock show for 2012 may the rock gods shine down and bless us all if we aren’t taken away by some freak new years occurrence. In any event we are buying tickets for the show to support are good friends at yugongyishan and to bring in the new year with some good old punk music. The show will be held on January 6th 7:00pm. Seems like Let’s Rock Beijing is not a one hit wonder first Neon Trees now Simple plan I wonder who they will bring out here next? We attached a poster since we were very hard press to find out so I hope no promoters starts emailing us to post their event flyers because we will not. By the way you can get tickets online from this new cool service I just discovered sendmetickets.com sorry if I am a bit lated I just returned to the city after a two and a half month sabbatical.

We Are Back

Yes we are finally back after a long break and trip to South America finishing my new book. Are goals have changed we have done a bit of soul searching and decided to just blog from our hearts. We want to dish the dirty on Beijing the way we see it and from all of our sources. One of the first topics for discussion is this Booey lehoo mess with Will I am and John Legend. Imagine these guys have to sell 8-10,000 seats and they do no marketing or promotions. What do you expect when you have a bunch of lawyers running the show just talking allot and getting nothing done. We are not even sure if the show will happen on Dec 17th 2011. Stay tuned for more updates and lots of posts to come. By the way Simple Plan is coming back to Beijing and so is the king of drum and bass Goldie.
